John Godfrey

John Godfrey – Corporate Affairs Director – Legal & General

John Godfrey is Corporate Affairs Director at Legal & General, where his responsibilities have included public affairs, external and internal communications, brand and corporate responsibility. He joined L&G, where he is a member of the Group Executive Committee, in 2006.  John has worked in the City of London for over 35 years since graduating in law from Oxford University, with roles including business and communications functions for US, Japanese and European banks.

John served as Special Advisor at the Home Office 1988-90, and as Head of the Prime Minister’s Downing Street Policy Unit 2016-17 before returning to L&G.  He has been a parliamentary candidate and is a Financial Inclusion Commissioner, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an advisor to several think tanks.
